New Port Richey Fishing Report 2/3/24
Today, January 5th, I took my new friend and client named Pike out to do some classic winter-time inshore fishing in Pasco County, FL. We started the day chasing Sheepshead since the water was significantly colder than usual. We ended up catching a bunch of Sheepshead and smaller redfish on shrimp and fiddler crabs. Luckily the sheepshead were biting so well that we spent over 2 hours fishing the same dock pulling out over 30 sheepshead. Then we used live shrimp and targeted Redfish passing by. We also caught a few black drum. Thanks for a great trip guys! Looking forward to next time!

Today, January 3rd, I took a new friend and client named Rudy out to do some classic winter-time inshore fishing in Pasco County, FL. We started the day chasing Sheepshead since the water was significantly colder than usual. We ended up catching a bunch of Sheepshead and smaller redfish on shrimp and fiddler crabs. Luckily a keeper Redfish passing by ate Rudy’s live shrimp on the bottom, giving him a good fight. We always let the keeper Redfish go since we always have plenty of other fish to keep. Thanks for a great trip Rudy! Looking forward to next time!

Today, December 27th, I took a new friend and repeat client named Dan out to do some classic winter-time inshore fishing in Pasco County, FL. We started the day chasing Redfish but with colder water temperatures, sometimes they are tricky. We ended up putting the live shrimp and fiddler crabs to use on Speckled Trout and Sheepshead since they admire the cold water much more than Snook and Redfish. Dan caught his biggest Speckled Trout and Sheepshead in just 4 hours. He ended up taking home 2 of the biggest Sheepshead for a delicious fresh fish dinner. Later in the day, we caught even more Trout on artificial lures called the Salt Strong Slam Shady’s. Thanks for booking an inshore fishing trip today Dan!

Today, December 20th, I took out new neighbors named Rob and Ryan to target Sheepshead, Redfish, Trout, Black Drum, and Snook using live shrimp and fiddler crabs under docks, mangroves, and in the backcountry. Even through the cold air and water temps, we managed to pull out tons of Redfish, some Black Drum, and too many keeper sized Sheepshead to count. Thanks for booking!

Today, December 7th, I took my girlfriend out to catch some muddy water Redfish. We found a big school of Redfish hanging around some rocks on the outgoing tide. We ended up catching over 2 dozen Redfish before running out of bait and heading back to the dock. Definitely a solid 2 hour trip.

Today, December 15th, I took a new friend and fellow angler named Elijah fishing for some cold-water species like Sheepshead, Flounder, Trout etc. We ended up catching his biggest Sheepshead at 18 3/4 inches. Not only that, but we also caught tons of other Sheepshead around that size, as well as Redfish and Flounder deep in the backcountry. Luckily the skiff allows for us to fish super shallow spots. Congrats on your PB and looking forward to fishing again this Spring!

Today, December 8th, I took my good friend and client out to catch some Speckled Trout and we definitely found them. With the water being cooler, Trout definitely are more fired up than Redfish and Snook. We were using Slam Shady’s (swimbait) and Moonwalkers (Topwater Lure) to consistently hook up to keeper sized Trout. Even though they were keepers, we decided to let them all go since their numbers are still hurting from Red Tide the past few years. It was still a ton of fun to catch Trout after Trout all on artificial lures. Thanks for booking Abram, see you next time!
